Continuous Knock Out Lesson Plan:
Target Group: Students who can shoot a basketball and move lines quickly.
Skills Purpose: Hand eye coordination; reaction; speed of movement; knowing where your body is on the court.
Examples: practice of shooting the ball from the free throw line and random locations on the court; movement to recover the ball where ever the ball rebound off the rim to; agility to stop the ball close to the rim for a better shot; tracking and predication of the ball; dribbling the ball; finding the appropriate line.
Fitness Purpose: Rapid muscular endurance
Example: continuous activity consisting for a set amount of time of shooting, rebounding and switching lined appropriately.
Equipment:
The shooter is never out but just changes lines when the person behind them sinks their ball into the appropriate basket first allowing the first student to keep improving the skills needed to succeed at shooting a basketball with speed and more accuracy through practice.
If shooter A on court A makes the shot before shooter B on court A then shooter A goes to the back of the line on court A. But if shooter B makes the shot before shooter A on court A then shooter A has to run to the other side and join court B.
Meanwhile, if shooter A on court B makes the shot before shooter B on court B then shooter A goes to the back of the line on court B. But if shooter B makes the shot before shooter A on court B then shooter A has to run to the other side and join court A making the game continuous.
The shooter is never “out” but just changes lines. Everyone plays evenly with a small rest period while waiting for the ball to promote better conditions to help avoid being tired out too quickly. The players do not have to sit and wait for the next game, they just keep playing.
