I was born and raised in Monterey County and went through Monterey Peninsula Unified School District from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. After graduating in 2009 I went on to Monterey Peninsula College and then transferred to Sonoma State University to complete my undergraduate studies as a Liberal Studies Major with an emphasis in foregin language of American Sign Language from the Hucthins School of Liberal Studies. My mentor for the 2013-2014 school year, Mrs. Patricks of room 22 at Monte Vista Elementary in Rohnert Park, California. I fell so lucky and privileged to have been able to experience being in room 22 for over 150 hours throughout the school year. This class provided me with an understanding of amazing classroom management as well as keeping the students engaged in their learning process. I could not have been placed with a more wonderful, knowledgeable and inspiring mentor as I began my journey into the classroom in the teacher role.

My senior synthesis project at Sonoma State University was inspired by the class room that showed me I can come home from work every day with a smile on my face by guiding these young students. My projects consisted of a deeper look into the deaf culture that goes along with American Sign Language. As an additional component I wrote a children's story about the school day and diverse students in schools focusing on the deaf. The screen on my project was displaying all of the signs needed to sign the complete children's story.
